Journal planckscale's Journal: Knoppix/Debian install
Simply issue the command(s) from the prompt:
apt-get install gtkrellm
apt-get install sendmail
This makes installing apps on Debian a breeze. I got sendmail installed but I've been running into problems sending and receiving mail from different domains. It's worked on a couple occasions, and I can send and receive email too and from work, but we have our own DNS servers here and perhaps the rest of the net is still unaware of my IP. Have to give Register.com 3 days for the changes I made to my records permiate the *cloud*. Once sendmail's installed, webmin is a great tool for configuring accounts and mail settings. Still, I can't figure out if my current problem is a DNS problem, I bungled the installation, or Cox.net has closed my ability to run a webserver. Same with Apache.
