Journal FortKnox's Journal: Picture Game is ON! 15

OK, you have until the end of the weekend to send me your pictures (josh_at_marotti_dot_com). Use the subject "/. PICTURE GAME" so I don't delete the note as spam.
If I end up spending time to make an html system for logging your pics, there will be no fillers. If we do the voting in the JE, then we HAVE to have fillers (as jaws mentions, if I put in my pic, and vote for everyone else, everyone can assume who I am based on my voting).

I already have like 4 pictures, so send them in! I'll see what I can do about making a voting system.

Update: After some thought, I think I'm going to just put up the pictures, no fillers, and just have people decide. It'll be an "honor system" that no one will peak at everyone elses votes (besides, its just for fun, right?).

Update: Another thing. I don't know hardly any of your names, so if you can put your slashdot ID in the email, it'd help out (so I know who's picture I'm posting).

  • Josh - just post the pics with some time stamp and send the URL back to those people, and then have everybody who is participating post AC with a canned message, "My picture is here: http://marotti.com/slashdot/1234.jpg, who am I?"

    That way it doesn't matter for an HTML system or not, and there is no way of cheating - just have the responses say, "I think your Bob" or what not...

    • Ya know, this is a good idea.

      You might be able to make it cleaner: the picture game journal could have N discussion threads (where N is the number of pictures) and then people could post who they think it is under each thread -- FK could just set up the threads ahead of time.

      You could kill two birds with 1 stone -- everyone would be posting so much I bet it would make it to the HOF....

        I think hitting 1,000 posts would be hard. FK has 512 fans at my last check, but I don't think that many read his Journal. I'll post a link in my journal, but most my readers are his as well.

          If there were 15 pictures...that's 15 posts to vote per person. 66 people? 10 pictures -> 100 people.

          Doable...but posting 1 post per picture may be a pain...

    • It'd be much harder. I was thinking I'd give everyone the names of who entered, so they knew who they were choosing. But either way will do. I'll post up the ones I have (and get) and give out a list of who all entered after I get a ton...

    I hope you plan to remove anything from the file names that could be used to aid in guessing.
    • of course, the names of the pictures will just be the numbered list.

      But, in the end, when I say who is who, I'd like to know. I get people's names from the email, but I can't tie the names to /. IDs. That's where I need the help.
