Journal dacetone's Journal: Tee Vee Jay! 2
I just ordered TV-J, a feed of NHK (the equiv of the BBC, the broadcasting authority in Japan) from Comcast, and have been watching it all morning. I'm hoping that exposure to natural Japanese speakers will improve my speaking ability, and trying to read all the kanji subtitles makes me realize just how far I still have to go!
My goal for the summer is to learn the 100 kanji and be ready to pass Level 4 (the level that native children reach in elementary school) of the Japanese Proficiency Test. I'm guessing I already know around 40 (counting the numbers and very basic words) from class, so I think it is an attainable goal. And it won't make me too sad to have to take a vacation to Honolulu to actually take the test ;)
