Journal fm6's Journal: Turan Likes T3? 2

One of the few movie critics I have any respect for is Kenneth Turan. He manages to say something interesting about a movie whether he loves it or hates it. In a word, he's smart. So I'm a little taken aback to find him liking T3: RotM. Maybe I'll have to go see it.

Turan Likes T3?

  • I generally find action flicks quite boring but Terminator and T2 (especially T2) were very smart, engaging, well-written and well-executed films. Syd Field, the guru of screenwriting even uses the script for T2 as one of his four examples in Four Screenplays: Studies in the American Screenplay. If you're going to see T3, it's worth seeing the first two first, IMHO
    • Yeah, I enjoyed the first two myself. But they were both done by James Cameron, who has a certain talent for this kind of B movie. He has nothing to do with this production, and a lot of the other reviewers suggested that the new guy just plain abandoned Cameron's concept. Plus the ending of T2 seemed to foreclose the possibility of any more sequels. So I just assumed that T3 would be crap -- as most part 3's are, you must admit.

An Ada exception is when a routine gets in trouble and says 'Beam me up, Scotty'.
