Journal AceCaseOR's Journal: Review of Pirates of the Caribbean

Alright, I saw "Pirates of the Caribbean" yesterday, and here's my thoughts on the movie

The movie was very well done. The sword fighting was well chroeographed, and reminded me in some ways to Errol Flynn films. The sets were very well designed, detailed and accurate to the time, but they did not steal the show, nor were they so over the top as to detract from the acting and action.

Orlando Blooms acting is superb, and he delivers his lines with appropriate emotion, and admirably. He does not come off as "Legolas of the High Seas".

However, it is Johnny Depp, playing Captain Jack Sparrow who steals the show. He plays his role like a combination of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and The Dread Pirate Robers, and all without being too silly or over the top.

All in all, I give "Pirates of the Caribbean" a 4 out of 4.
