Journal $$$$$exyGal's Journal: More masturbation, meat, and a little NADD. 17

I'm going to write another one of those "private thoughts" entries soon, but here's some followups to some of my previous entries!

Never has masturbation been so newsworthy. Now it seems that chronic male masturbators are less likely to develop prostate cancer. Perhaps this is yet another reason why males masturbate excessively? Could evolution have had something to do with this? Perhaps, but this is pushing it. Maybe the non-chronic masturbators of the far-past were much more likely to die of prostate cancer. As a result, maybe those prostate cancer sufferers were less-able to support the tribe?

More labels on your meat? Some people say yes, and others say no. This seems like a no-brainer to me. Put the freaking country of origin on the packaging! That is such a baby-step, but a step in the right direction. You meat-eaters should know what you're putting in your belly. Those who say this will add to the cost of meat are living in some fantasy world :). This will not add to the price of meat. How could it?

One last unrelated link I found in the blog-universe. Do you have N.A.D.D. ? Many on Slashdot do, including one of the current contestants.

More masturbation, meat, and a little NADD.

  • I certainly wish I could masturbate right now.. but I guess I'll have to wait at least 3 days till my dick heals from over masturbation. :((
I wonder if it happens to girls too.
    • lol "over masturbation"...

      Try some lube, bud.

Yes, it could happen to girls too, but they tend to self-lubricate better.

      • Lube doesn't fit with my self-pleasuring habits.
You see, before masturbation I enjoy watching porn while rubbing my pants. I think that this action hurts my you-know-what the most, and putting lube in my pants would be a bit.. awkward.

In that case, I'd recommend sweat pants, have silk boxers on (that creates it's own interesting thoughts), but definitely don't wear blue jeans with nothing under them and do that.

I can certainly think of one time when I was much younger, with just blue jeans on, that I think I caused friction burn to me and my partner .. ouchie

This will not add to the price of meat. How could it?

I believe the idea is: say ground beef from your own country costs $2.00/lb, but ground beef imported from somewhere with lower wages etc. only costs $1.75/lb. Say both are available in stores. The proposed labeling will allow consumers to choose domestic meat, even though it costs more (whereas before consumers could only go by price) - and as demand for the foreign meat goes down, stores stop carrying it. Now the only ground beef available in stores costs $2.00/lb.
    • True. Consumers choose to stop paying for the cheaper meat, so the cheaper meat disappears. As a result, the price of meat "appears" to have gone up.

Still though, this is indirect, and is how a free market with informed consumers is supposed to work :). If the British cow-farmers want Americans to continue buying their cheaper(?) beef, then they will need to start a marketing campaign that says why their beef is better than American beef. Eventually, whoever can convince the American consumer that the

"And besides of our renowned quality, you'll know that here in Wendy's, our cows really spent quality time and had a great life. Before we slaughtered them, that is. Doesn't this make your conscious feel much better?"

Which is why I'm in favor of the idea. One argument against it, though, is that British beef may in fact be more safe/humane than American beef, but Americans will irrationally buy American beef anyway just because of the "Made in USA" label, no matter what the British beef industry does. The country of origin is not ENOUGH information for consumers to make an informed choice.

      • Well, another problem is logistics. Having to track them seperatly adds cost inherently, without even any change in 'real' value.

Ever wonder why the total of a set of spare parts are so much more than, say, a whole car? The costs of stocking, keeping track of revisions (or in the case of food, spoiling), having 2 sets of storage locations, pricing labels, etc. etc. adds onto the effective cost of the item. We charge 3X over our cost for parts... Partly for profit, but 1.5X is just the logistics and st

  • I'll skip the meat beating. I work in porn, the last thing I want to do on a weekend is think about more porn. :)

Ok, I'll skip the NADD thing too. I'm a prime candidate to send in a screen shot. I just woke up, got on my laptop with a 1600x1200 screen, and have mail (with like 100k messages in various boxes), Mozilla til 6 tabs open, 4 xterms with SSH sessions to various servers, and GAIM (ICQ) open.. I'm just getting rolling. I'll probably have more xterms up soon, and GIMP to fix some lame grap

  • I can't speak for the rest of your friends list, but I for one am becoming more interested in why you seem to have such an axe to grind on the subject of 'chronic' and 'excessive' masturbation.

Now on to another subject... I've decided that I can't possibly have N.A.D.D. The reason I know this is that when I saw that Windows screen shot I just laughed. There is only one row of icons on the task bar and you can actually read large bits of their titles! Come on... you aren't even beginning to have a clutt

There is only one row of icons on the task bar and you can actually read large bits of their titles! Come on... you aren't even beginning to have a cluttered desktop when you can still read titles on your icons. You have to at least fill up the first row, and prefferably be well into your second. At three rows, I'd say you're well into a desktop clu

Just what we need: a totally non-objective and useless piece of information being printed on our food to help promote our geographical prejudices. There is a short list of things I need to know about my meat. Let's use beef as an example. I need to know: the FDA grade, what kind of cow it came fro
    • I hate it when I reply to myself, but...

You know what would be useful instead of the location the meat comes from? They should tell us if the animal was treated with antibiotics, and if so whhat kind and how much. That would actually tell us if the cow was raised in a responsible manner, or if the farmer was helping to produce resistant strains of deadly diseases.
  • It seems doubtful to me that masturbation could have provided enough of an evolutionary benefit in ages past. Men died at an early enough age that prostate cancer was a non-issue. What is more likely is that evolution didn't care that male semen was "toxic" to the body over the long term, precisely because of that fact. Therefore, the only way to realize any benefit from mastubation was to extend our lifespans. I want to live forever, maybe I'd better find more time in my work schedule for keeping prostate
