The Sexual Revolution Jumps the Shark

Marxist Hacker 42 (638312) writes | about a year ago

United States 18

Three stories caught my eye this week, and a fourth hidden story was found because of the other three.

Three stories caught my eye this week, and a fourth hidden story was found because of the other three.

Apparently, homosexuals with the help of religious zealots have gained a new level of equality this week, with Lesbians in Florida now able to be charged with statutory rape under a rather odd rape law that that calls statutory rape "lewd or lascivious battery on child". I think that means seduction is now rape. And speaking of seduction being rape, while discussing this case, I had cause to look up The age of consent in Massachusetts, where I leanred that there too, seduction = statutory rape, but ONLY if the person under the age of 18 is "chaste". Elsewhere in Massachusetts law, apparently, is a stricter version which is about sexual penetration and only applies to girls younger than 16. So if you are a slut, you can't cry rape in Massachusetts.

This all jives in with the story from Elizabeth Smart on how overzealous Christian sex ed led her into a polygamous marriage with her kidnapper. I think the same people who wrote that Mormon sex ed curriculum wrote the Massachusetts law on age of consent.

And finally, just to bring it back around to homosexuality the Department of Justice now requires employees to have some pro-gay paraphanilia in their workspace- J. Edgar Hoover and his closet full of dresses would be so proud!

This entire thing is particularly disturbing... Just not for the reasons the author thinks...

Are you able to read my mind and know what I think?

By story above, here is what I truly think:
1. Charging an 18 year old girl with statutory rape of her 15 year old girlfriend is a great thing- it's a new step in gay equality. Having said that, the idea that seduction=rape is ridiculous.
2. Likewise with the Massachusetts law that ties consent to previous behavior. We need less discrimination, not more, to make headway.
3. I prefer my abstinence education to be chastity education instead- what Elizabeth Smart was taught in school is just as much garbage as teaching African boys that having sex with a virgin while wearing a condom cures AIDS.
4. Finally, back to the DOJ- this is just funny and ironic given that J. Edgar Hoover was a closet homosexual, and it goes towards the long held suspicion that the end game isn't gay marriage, but forced homosexuality.

Having said that, the idea that seduction=rape is ridiculous.

The idea that statutory rape = rape is ridiculous, but whoever thought up the statute just couldn't think of better words to describe the problem of adults fucking with kids. So no, seduction is not rape, but an adult going around and seducing underage partners (of either sexuality) is not permissible, and is therefore statutory rape.

(Though, I thought after the whole georgia football star statutory rape thing most of the other states were working on exceptions for close in age couples, but I guess there's still some backwater prudes who still think a magic number divides adulthood from childhood)

"close in age couples" in most states means less than three months difference, not three years difference. We now know the human brain doesn't stop developing for nearly twenty five years after birth, and there is a HUGE cognitive difference in understanding between a fifteen year old and an eighteen year old.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124119468 [npr.org] for the popularization.
http://harvardmagazine.com/2008/09/the-teen-brain.html [harvardmagazine.com] for the MRI images
http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog-extra/the-adolescent-brain-beyond-raging-hormones [harvard.edu] for the white paper

There still isn't a "magic number" that divides adulthood from childhood, the individual development of the prefrontal cortex can be complete as early as 17, as late as 25, and the bell curve centers on 21.

But it isn't just "backwater prudes" either, there actually is some science behind it.

Well, not yet anyway. But do enough of this, and the day is coming when we'll see heterosexuals being as illegal as mexicans.

You both got way too much FOX on the brain. I watch them and CNN occasionally. Tragic what they pass for 'news' these days. More tragic to see people take it seriously and actually believe that trash. This hysteria you all are under is truly tremendous. I'm seeing movies rated PG-13 for 'intense perilous sequences'. You people are really headed over the cliff... blaming the weather and terrorism on teh gheys!

Re:FYI (1)

Marxist Hacker 42 (638312) | about a year ago | (#43816009)

This wasn't even fox. But I've seen enough enough [kgw.com] violence [catholicnewsagency.com] to know [uuworld.org] when a civil war [uuworld.org] is being [huffingtonpost.com] started [pqmonthly.com] .

Are you saying you can't see what is right in front of your face (and notice, not a single one of those news sources was FOX!).

The one that was most ironic, was the group of gays who attacked Holy Redeemer in San Francisco over Prop 8- that church runs an AIDS hospice.

Re:FYI (1)

fustakrakich (1673220) | about a year ago | (#43818351)

I use FOX as the generic term for all Hysterical American Media, kinda like Kleenex for facial tissue... doesn't really matter. You're watching either paid actors or crazy people. The real treat of civil war is coming from people who fear the loss of their privileged status.

Re:FYI (1)

Marxist Hacker 42 (638312) | about a year ago | (#43818383)

And they wouldn't be a threat if their privileged status wasn't endangered. Privilege exists for a REASON. Isn't it better to try to figure that reason out before destroying for the fun of it?

Re:FYI (1)

Marxist Hacker 42 (638312) | about a year ago | (#43818391)

Also, nice to know you consider Huffington Post and local news stations such as KGW to be as unreliable as Fox. Never claim to be a liberal again to me, you're just another Conspiracy Theorist.

Re:FYI (1)

fustakrakich (1673220) | about a year ago | (#43818911)

I never once claimed to be a 'liberal', that would be those other guys... And that's Ariana's Huffington Post, right? And furthermore, privilege can only be justified in a might makes right world. Are you telling me I should 'know my place' and not make waves?

Re:FYI (1)

Marxist Hacker 42 (638312) | about a year ago | (#43819605)

You should consider who your waves will hurt. It is not possible to take action without doing harm.

Re:FYI (1)

fustakrakich (1673220) | about a year ago | (#43836899)

So now we should apologize for living... Can't do that without 'harming' something.

I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Re:FYI (1)

Or if you prefer the Latin:
Confiteor Deo omnipotenti,
et vobis fratres,
quia peccavi nimis
cogitatione, verbo,
opere et omissione:
mea culpa, mea culpa,
mea maxima culpa.
Ideo precor beatam Mariam semper Virginem,
omnes Angelos et Sanctos,
et vos, fratres,
orare pro me ad Dominum Deum nostrum.

But do enough of this, and the day is coming when we'll see heterosexuals being as illegal as mexicans.

Ya know, there's less outlandish (and way more fun) conspiracies to glom onto. No reason to wander the wastelands when there's better hunting elsewhere.

But I understand, apostasy is hard, especially at the beginning. You'll find your way.
