Journal Archangel Michael's Journal: Strawberry Daquiris 14
I am taking advice from my personal slashcounselor to post a recipe. The only thing is, this recipe is (was) top secret and only known by a few close associates before today.
It is my recipe, I made it up, and everyone who has tasted it claims it was the "best ever".
16 oz frozen sweetened strawberries.
1 12oz can Kerns Strawberry Nectar.
1/2 cup 1/2 & 1/2
1/4 - 1/2 cup Rum dark Rum (optional)
Whipping cream to top.
In a blender mix strawberries, nectar and 1/2 & 1/2. The Can of Nectar should be VERY cold, almost frozen. The 1/2 & 1/2 is used to help thicken and smooth the blend. Blend till smooth and creamy.
If you use rum, that too should be VERY COLD. Colder the better, as the cold helps keep the Mix THICK.
Pour in to small glasses, and top with Whipping Cream. If it is fresh strawberry season, you can add a fresh strawberry on the edge of the glass for an elegant touch.
Oh my. (Score:2)
Unfortunately I rarely drink, and when I do, rum gives me horrible headaches/hangovers.
Still -- this might be worth filing away for One of These Days when I can start embibing again.
Thanks! Now go start posting in other JEs!
Re:Oh my. (Score:2)
My recipie indicates that rum is optional. Not everyone drinks, and those that do, should know how to make a drink, with and without. In this case I rarely drink anything other than a nice beer or a glass of wine.
And the beer is not any of that cheep crap Buttwiper type either. The wine is cheap, two buck chuck. If you have TraderJoes, you know what this is.
Anyway, Salude

I imagine that if I cut back on some of the sugar in this recipe (used just plain frozen strawberries instead of the sweetened), that Kiddo would *love* this!
As for beer -- life is too short to drink cheap beer, m'dear.
And wine is never that cheap here in Georgia -- major sin & import taxes apply. No, we don't have TraderJoes -- from the prices and presence of that chain

Native Californian here. My original hometown is where TraderJoe's is headquartered. My current hometown doesn't have one, but SHOULD!
I have to drive 2 hours each way to the nearest TJ's.

Quiz answer: Well, they call it "white" but in the case of White Zin, it's actually pink.
Survey answer: Pink, please. The reds give me headaches, and yellows are [generally] too dry.
Oversight answer: I already said: Turning Leaf White Zin.
I, too, am a native Californian. But I have emigrated to the Deep South, where it is much more affordable to live, the pace of life is slower, and the people are nicer. (Generally speaking.)

Well, if you don't drink wine, I will have to buy you a beer. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, or if you are brave, Bigfoot Ale.
Nothing better than a Hometown Brewski

I don't like beer. Never acquired a taste for it.
For me, it's champagne or hard cider.
I'm not trying to be difficult... really.

I can't say that I've ever really had more than a taste of one of these, but I recall that the stuff that's in it typically gives me headaches and/or bad hangovers.
When I used to drink hard liquor, it was those girlie drinks where you *really* can't taste the booze. Fuzzy navels were good. Purple Hooters were *excellent*. Late in my drinking life, I discovered Chambourd (sp?) and it was all downhill from there.
