User Journal 6

Been working on my PHP site, which I won't link to, cause I don't want to worry too badly about trolling (although I can see IPs, delete messages and users, everything bad that could happen has to be approved through the admin (me), and I am not afraid to start emailing abuse). It isn't slashdot, but a place I call home. All the 'normal' regulars have seem to of found it, which is great. But for those that haven't and are normal, you should be able to find it if you dig around (it isn't hard)Been working on my PHP site, which I won't link to, cause I don't want to worry too badly about trolling (although I can see IPs, delete messages and users, everything bad that could happen has to be approved through the admin (me), and I am not afraid to start emailing abuse). Yeah, its already been pointed out that I'm a J2EE programmer, and I'm running a PHP website. First of all, it came well packaged and easily setup. Secondly, I don't have the time to get a site that complete setup in Java. Finally, I don't have the HD space to install a DB, Java, Tomcat, AND JBoss to get the thing running. Not to mention the resources it would require on my poor little P100...

Anywho... its almost done, so I'll be putting up schtuff for the UT Mod here (and on my website) probably this weekend or early next week. All those interested, please get your sourceforge ID's setup, and keep your arms in the seat at all times. We'll be taking off soon.

Maybe he's embarrassed about his grammar and punctuation skills. Oh, and his caps lock seems to be stuck. :)

As a embedded-in-html thing, nothin beats PHP. We are currently using a perl-based framework called "Pagekit", because it integrates beautifully with ORACLE. But for more simple stuff, PHP rocks.

J2EE? hah! its a huge beast. Asp? bleh. sucks.

way to go.

J2EE too complicated? (1)

It seems that the appeal of PHP is that it is much simpler than JBoss/Tomcat/ etc setups. Maybe you lose ACID transactions...but what else? Thoughts?
