Journal stefanlasiewski's Journal: I like the greenlight/redlight/bluelight better 7

Hmm, looks like they replaced the green/red/blue liglights with happy faces.

friend
fan
Friend of Friend is a 404, as is http://images.slashdot.org/eof.gif.

I think I like the old system better. Gave some color to the otherwise drab ./ layout. Plus, I thought it was pretty intuitive for those of us who grew up with stoplights.

Green = good. Red = bad. Blue? Ok, blue wasn't very intuitive, but at least it was pretty.

Now it's smily = friend? Or does it mean Fan? I forget. Winking face does that mean Friend or Fan?
Red frowning face, ok, I know it means they hate me. Blue frowning face?

Like WTF!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$##########

  • The smileys are weird. But slashdot is weird, so I guess we'll get used to them.

Unless they got 0WNX0RED? Because all the other images [slashdot.org] are fucked too, I wonder.

    • It's odd that the smiley faces are the only images that are work at all.

Did someone do an 'rsync --delete' ?
      • I think it went more like this:

        [root@slashdot.org root]# up2date slash-code

  • I thought you were talking D/s and I was going to ask who uses blue.

ow I still have no idea what you are talking about because I hhave the same old dots in my browser that I had yesterday.
  • i never saw any of the mangled images. still seeing the colored dots. all of the images you linked looked like they always have. maybe i just missed it and it's over now.
  • I too briefly saw smiley faces, as well as images that just wouldn't load. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Slashdot move [slashdot.org]. Taco commented that it was producing technical difficulties. Or maybe it was just some kind of hack - website defacement with a face?

Today is a good day for information-gathering. Read someone else's mail file.
