Jellybob's Journal: Feeling Good

Having been thinking for a while about work, I think things are looking up - for the past couple of months I've been completely unmotivated about work, and finally worked out why.

At the moment my job is almost exclusively sysadmin/tech support, which while I love computers and networking, it doesn't really challenge me in any way, so at the end of the day I go home feeling like I havn't really achieved anything.

However the thing that keeps me going here is the people - working in the online centre most of the time, I'm constantly in contact with clients. Despite my griping at times (most days I can't really get much done, because I'm always being asked for help with things), it's the bit of the job I love doing.

So, this morning I talked things through with my team coordinator, and hopefully I should be more involved with the training side of things in the future. It was starting to go that way a little already, because I'm going to be involved with the IT training side of an employment course we started this week.

Turns out my TC was thinking about putting more of that into my job anyway, with me being more involved with one to one client support, instead of just the impromptu people who need some help, and who have worked out that I can usually get obscure things sorted quicker than the trainers.

Anyway, gotta go help someone.
