Yes, we actually read these things. This is because when you mark someone as "friend" (your "fan") and they enter into their journal, it sends them a message that you updated your journal. Assuming they have message notification turned on. Then it is seen as a system message, similar to when someone replies to a message you post.

So keep it interesting dammit! :p
