I'll be celebrating (not celebating, I know it isn't a word) New Years in Seattle. Got the good job, really really happy about this. I'm excited about working up there, and a bit nervous about the move. We're going to be living in downtown (Belltown, hopefully, I got my eye on a really nice apartment there) because it's a lot easier than me trying to commute. Me commuting will result in getting lost for the first month (not because I'm bad with directions, because I like to explore. Like Tim Allen) and possibly assaulting some stupid driver. It's just better for society for me not to commute, and I save gas.

I start after the New Year, and probably won't be on much (I haven't really been on lately anyway) because I'm freaking busy. Anyway, just wanted to share the good news.

I used to live right in Belltown, loved it. I think you will also. I still work downtown but live in renton. I should be moving back downtown in a few months.

Congratulations on the new job -- and locale. I've never been to Seattle, but it sounds great. We'll understand if you're a little too busy to post for awhile.

Belltown isn't bad but it's not nearly as much fun as it was 10 years ago.

Personally if I wanted to be close to downtown I'd pick either Capitol/First Hill or Lower Queen Anne.

But as they say it's all a matter of taste. In many respects I'd take Belltown over where I'm living right now.

  I'm going up tomorrow to check it out. The thing I like about Belltown is that it is a bit further away from the fun spots. I'm just not a fun person, you see.
  
  That and Lower Queen Anne is further from work, and First Hill is close, but not as nice of a neighborhood.

    North part of Capitol Hill then... Belltown just isn't there any more.... 1st hill is all retirement communities.... and if you don't want fun you could always move to Greenlake

    Might want to check out Capitol Hill. The parts off the arterials are fairly mellow.
    
    My big strikes against Belltown:
    Too many huge apartment buildings/condos.
    A little too high-rise/urban (see above).
    Not much in the way of grass/trees/parks/greenspace.
    Too many bums/winos/drug-dealers (see 3rd and Bell).
    A bit too much nightlife on the southern half of 1st and 2nd (drunk rowdy jock types 7 nights a week).
    All the streets are major arterials which means near constant traffic 24/7, garbage trucks, construction, d
