The problem with Slashdot

The problem with slashdot, is that the moderation system doesn't really seem to work the way it's supposed to. To many comments are attempts to be funny, and all too often, a discussion is cut short because people have moved on to a new story, where there is a better chance to get mod points.

I mean, I'm not complaining too much, I enjoy reading slashdot, it's just that I'm getting a bit tired of only ready "funny" comments, because those are the ones being moderated.

I know everyone says that slashdot is not the place for intelligent conversation, but I guess I think it could be. Maybe I should start looking for a new news site. OSNews seems pretty good.
