I already tried the ltmodem-8.26 driver, and no dice. It doesn't even think there's a modem installed. Is that the right driver? Does it need a patch? What's the right driver for this modem?

Sure, and then nothing else would work. Like my Microsoft wi-fi card, which bizarrely enough works better in Linux than Windows.

Of course, it's kernel 2.4, but have you actually tried compiling it with 2.6? Maybe only a couple of lines need to be commented out, changed, whatever...
