NSash's Journal: Transparency isn't the same as invisibility

Why is it that in computer science, people use the word "transparent" to mean the opposite of what it does everywhere else?

If the workings of something are hidden, that's the opposite of transparency. Don't say transparent when you mean invisible, people.
