tekiegreg's Journal: Moderators attack here!!!

In moderating (with my mod points I got today) I decided to pay a visit to the Schizophrenia story and see if there was anything worth moderating. After setting threshold to "-1" and "newest first" like I always do in moderating, WOW did I see some good stories told by 0 post anonymous cowards. I must've burnt three mod points on that Slashdot article alone. See sometimes it does pay to browse all the way down at that level.

There were a lot of excellent responses there. A lot of them very personal, and I can fully understand why there were a lot of anonymous responses. Thanks for keeping an open mind (with the -1 etc.)

Yeah, as a general rule when I'm moderating I set my threshold at -1 (though when I'm not moderating I set at 2, blissfully ignorant and hoping the other mods catch the gems). When I'm modding I try and mod on a template as follows for each mod point:

1) Usually spend at least 1 mod point modding down flamebait/troll/offtopic (just doing my part to make sure nobody else has to see any crap)
2) Find an older article with a newer post that nobody really had a chance to moderate and blow one mod point ther
