Chacham's Journal: Diaretical: Went to the dentist

To the dentist! My brothers had been bugging me to go for a checkup and cleaning. I don't think i've been to the dentist is fifteen years or so. So, we contacted a friend with DDS in his name, and off I went.

Answered silly questions like "What do you think about your teeth?" To with i simply responded "I don't". The only mistake i made was giving an SSN. I should have made one up. I've really got to start using the reserved ones.

Well, looks like i have two caveties that are to be looked at next week. And, I was told to start flossing. I inquired about a water pic, and she said floss is usually better. I inquired as to an electric brush, she responded with two brochures.

Best part was, they let me hold the water-sucking thingy. I need to get me one of those.

If you've got coverage, and your health care/dental goes by your SSN, then they've got to have your SSN for those purposes.

Of course, if you made one up for the coverage to begin with, it's probably worth it to use the same wrong one....

Certainly possibly. Though, i find the whole use of SSN thing to be a problem.

Agreed -- I was just at the dentist today and there was a guy who didn't want to give them his SSN. The accounts person said that all she needed was the number that his insurance used for his account, which, which his particular carrier, was his SSN.

I think our system is broken as well -- we really need a public/private pair of numbers or something like that.

Or just have people submit usernames. It works much better.
