Scenario 1. A post appears that pokes fun at the French, or the Germans, or the Brits, or any other nationality. Hell, it might even make light of some terrorist atrocity commited in any of those countries. How does it get modded? 'Funny.'
Scenario 2. A post appears that pokes fun at the USA or maybe just the US government (which, it should be noted, is a very different thing from the USA itself). How does it get modded? 'Flamebait.'

In fact, most things that are modded flamebait or troll that I meta-mod are not deserving of that label, and as such, get meta-modded unfair. Having said that, if it truly is flamebait or troll material, I will meta-mod fair.
But I do not consider someone saying "I like KDE/Gnome/Windows/whatever and here's why" to be flamebait or troll material at all. That is, IMHO, the bigger double-standard here.

I M2 a great deal and have noticed a definite trend for moderators to react emotionally to the topic, modding flamebait or troll apparently because they don't agree with the opinion. Well, I M2 as I think was intended... dispassionately and with no agenda of my own.
