The problem with using logical fallacies in online argument

  • Next you're going to tell me that the mass of an electron isn't really a constant, but rather the average of some smaller stuff.

  • There's knowledge, most of which is facts, but some of which is that which we can reason about.

    If I say gravity is a downward force, I agree that is ultimately an appeal to authority.

    But if I say, assuming gravity is a downward force, then without other stipulations if you jump off a building you'll fall downward, that is not a logical fallacy.

    Someone's incorrect reasoning can certainly be moot if their facts are wrong, but the two are not exclusively coinciding. We can pick apart someone's reasoning, indep
