I have -killer- news to tell everyone.

But I'm so pissed about being banned (at work) that I'm gonna wait until the ban is over before writing it :-P

And I'm going to wait until the ban is over to do the voice contest (gives me a chance to setup a website for it anyway).I have -killer- news to tell everyone.

Any way I can convince a buncha you to write complaints to the editors? I don't even know what I did (or who else was screwing around on slashdot from this VERY large company... or who else was screwing around on slashdot in the same subnet that might not even BE this company). Meh!

You just saved a bunch of money by switching your auto insurance to Geico?

Geico sucks, avoid them like the plague

I'm not so sure about that. Geico had one of the lowest rates with $.5 million in coverage. What is bad about Geico? Since I haven't been in an accident, I have no idea how their claims department compares to others.

I will NEVER be their customer.

Some stupid kid came flying out of a Sheetz parking lot and t-boned me about halfway through December 2002. I was in a T-bird, she was skipping school in her daddy's Diplomat.

All the damage was crunched panels and a broken headlight, but it was extensive in that the whole door had to be replaced, quarter panels, lights, etc.

My insurance company was Donegal, hers was Geico. When I contacted my company, they said I should contact hers and give details as well. Well, they sent me to get an estimate and pictures, I answer there questions and I thought all was well until when, more than a month later, the idiots actually denied the claim. Why? To hear the adjustor for Geico tell it: "it looks like you got sideswiped and that's not what happened". My aunt who is an adjustor for another company, my claim agent from Donegal, and myself were stupified by this response as the entire passenger side of the car was clearly punched in from a head on hit, not sliced by a sideswipe. After my insurance company did some wrangling they notified me that Geico was being "entirely unreasonable" and "wouldn't even look at the photographs of the damage". They were forcing it to company arbitration in the hope that I would give up and let my $500 deductible go, and leave them not having to foot the bill for their stupid customer.

Finally, more than six months later, arbitration occurred and it was unanimously decided the Geico driver was 100% at-fault and Geico finally coughed up the money which means I finally got my deductible back (minus what I lost to the credit card I charged it to in APR).

After this little experience, I can safely say that there is no way on god's green earth I would trust these weaseling sleazebags to do anything but try to rip me off if I was a customer.

Thanks for the warning. Should I ever need my insurance to settle something, I will be sure to play the hard ass with them if things seem to be too slow.

Uhhhh - so you're in favour of having an insurance carrier that thinks every thing's the insured's fault? I don't know, I kind of like the idea of my insurance company telling people who make claims against me to @#$! off because they don't have a claim.

And what news did he tell you, huh? He won't mind if you share a little snippet?

Or we can do this poll style:

A) Ms. Knox is pregnant
B) The digestive illness is gone forever
C) FK was promoted to CEO and Lead Czar of Javaness
D) FK won the lottery and is going to split his winnings with all who comment here.
E) Joey finally got that aircraft carrier he's been after
F) FK is the monster at the end of this book
G) FK doesn't have any news and is just doing this to get people to email the /. editors regarding their opression of lovable ole FK.

A mind game. And a dangerous game at that.

well, I'm only 29. But I do have 11 years doing this crap.

I don't know if it makes me old, but I've worked on routers and switches since 93.

Damn.

I guess that does make me old. ;)

A would be cool, B is unlikely, C is more likely, E is, huh?, F is brilliant, G is unlikely, but I'm hoping for D. :)

Any way I can convince a buncha you to write complaints to the editors?

Did that and when I finally got a reply all I was told was to sit down and shut up and just wait for the ban to be lifted. Of course, no indication of the expected time frame, so I just have to try post (from work) every now and then and hope for the best.

The feeling I got was they don;t give a damn about anyone who has been unfairly banned, regardless of what the message you get when you try to post says.
