Journal FortKnox's Journal: The Village, The 4400, and The DeathStar [Updated] 10
Making this quick during rebuilds/deploys again ;-)
My parents will be in this weekend, so I'm hoping to pawn off my son to them so the wife & I can go see the new Shyamalan show "The Village." We are giant M.Night fans (yes, we really enjoyed "Unbreakable" but "Signs" is probably our fav). On Stern, Shyamalan said he was reading "Wuthering Heights" and wanted to do a 'King-Kong' like film, so he decided on a period flick with a 'king-kong' storyline. Regardless, I'm sure its the best Wuthering-Heights-with-King-Kong movie that can be made.
Also, I know there have been JEs on "The 4400" (KshG had one I recall), but I didn't get to see it until late (thanks to my 5,903,348 hour TiVo). I'm all caught up and have to say that this show kicks severe ass. I think its ranking #1 and supplanting "Scrubs" as my favorite show. Its a good combo of X-Files and X-Men, IMHO. Anyone not like it?
Oh, and a link from my bro:
That's no moon!
Update: Wow, looks like that Engadged story is a bit aged. Cassini hasn't snapped Mimas, but a similar shot was taken by voyager in 1980.

Since this is the only thread regarding the 4400, let me just say that it kicks ass. I'd love for this to be more than the miniseries it is currently. There are questions that are being answered, but if they could keep up this pace for a season or four, well... it'd just be some of the best writing on the tube today. [I got tired of the X-Files after season 3, I think. The story started getting too weird and silly.]

I'd agree Signs is his triumph thusfar. The birthday party video, the ankle in the fields - these are some of the best wonder-inducing shots ever filmed. And they would have been ruined by pretty much any other director in Hollywood. He understands that less is more sometimes - but is also a shameless crowd-pleaser when necessary.
