Nope... I changed his password and emailed him the new one. You'll have to crack his hotmail account instead. :-)

Good god, at least someone has some sense. That's exactly what I was going to do until I saw you'd already done it. Hope he still uses/checks

the password to his Hotmail acct is not 'password' like it was for his slashdot acct.

also, holy fuck, what a thing to have happen to you. i just hope this dude doesnt apply for a sysadmin job and give his uid. he just might, he is stupid enough to set his password to password, you never know.

Wouldn't that be part of the joke?

His name is 'ObviousGuy', ya know.

Apparently not... I got a response from whoever is now checking his email address, saying that ObviousGuy actually passed away on May 15. It looks like he posted quite a bit up until May 8, then starting again on June 26, which is apparently when his account was owned (judging by the "pwned" journal entry).

Anybody know if there is any truth to this?

(why is everyone AC? Yeesh! If he is dead, why bother being anon in his journal? )

Because I don't want people emailing me saying, "Hey, I'm the real ObviousGuy, email me my password!" The person who emailed me back from ObviousGuy's email account seemed pretty sincere about it, and he has now changed the password again. That's the end of it as far as I'm concerned. I was sorry to hear that he'd passed away... I bet he would have liked to see that he got the 10 millionth post. :-)

Man that sucks, any way we can find out exactly what happened?

(hey wait, how did notice of his death get sent to his email box? Odd)

Step 1: 0wn someone who has an easy-to-guess password.
Step 2: Leave the said password unchanged for two months.
Step 3: Get 0wned yourself. No profit.

No, i don't get it either.
