  • You put into words what myself and, with like three exceptions, everyone I know believes as well. As far as Kerry protesting, he paid the ticket price. He fought!
    • True. Although I don't agree with what you implied, that only those that fought have a say in the war. If I don't want to fight that doesn't make me any less of a member of this country. My contribution might not be as a soldier but instead as a politician, writing better laws and policies. It good that he fought, don't get me wrong. I don't see that as a reason to restricts others' speech about the war.
      • The implication was unintentional. Everyone in the US has a say on policy. That is one of our institutional premises. Unfortunately there are those who believe that questioning the government is tantamount to treason (Ann Coltour comes to mind). My point is that you cannot accuse John Kerry of being unpatriotic for his statements against the war because prior to his making them he served his country in the War.
