Journal TheHonestTruth's Journal: Slashdot is full of idiots 2

Myself included. First, when my sig says "inciteful," it is not a spelling mistake. It is a play on words because everyone here is a total moron and I intentionally berate them when they are. Why? Truthfully, because the anonymity of the Internet allows me to.

There was a time when I was the dumbest person on slashdot. And not by a little, by a lot. Now people regularly post about things such as patent law when they clearly have no idea what the fuck they are talking about. Look at any patent story and I guaran-damn-tee you at least three posts quote the Abstract and say "well looking at this, the patent is completely obvious." (The Abstract, Title, etc. have nothing to do with the scope of a patent). This doesn't mean I look to the past through rose-colored glasses. I don't. People were still assholes then, but they were smart, intelligent, assholes.

And while I love political overtalking, /. doesn't need a politics section. It is one big flamewar, day after day with no real discussion. It's D&D Crossfire. "I think Bush lied to the US" *roll D20* 9. You miss. An angry neo-con has seen your post. "You can't possibly tell me that the world isn't better off without Saddam! Should we wait for him to have WMDs??" you take 3 humiliation damage. Lather, rinse, repeat.

If I wasn't so bent on trying to prove everyone wrong here, I'd never even read the comments. And no one, myself included, ever budges. Why? Because we don't have to. One of the two combatants will rant on another topic and forget that they didn't get the last word in, the other claiming victory through their monitor when no response appears.

So what I post is inciteful. It is not intelligent, wise, or even well thought out. I try to be correct when I can be, but not at the expense of firing off a quick, barely proof-read response to an even less-read post. Time is money people, and I don't pay for /.
