Journal forged's Journal: Subscribing to spam 12
I want to subscribe (that's right, opt-in) to spam using a carefully selected email address, for research purpose (spam tracking). The email address will obviously be active only for a finite length of time, then will be discarded.
The subscription mechanism should be on the web, such as what we see on some porn sites, and voluntary. The expected result must be to enlist said email address in the greatest number of spam lists.
Where do I begin ?

Actually I had in mind nastier type of spam, such as the one you get from porn sites when they ask you to enter your email address once (and they never stop sending you mail after that !), or the kind where the From address field is invalid (isn't this the case on most porn anyway?)
I've set all my decoys up and I'll be trying my new guns later today or tomorrow... =D

I believe those come from sold email lists. So you want to sign up for as many as possible, and then hold your address is "sold".
Here's another one.

I got spam (Score:2)
I have a domain name for one of my sites that used to belong to an ISP. There has not been a valid e-mail address using this domain for over four years. And yet my mail server is refusing around 2000 spams a day addressed to this domain.
If it's an onslaught of spam you want, I can give you one at a moment's notice

Jesus :) I didn't ask for this much, but thank you for sharing your (unfortunate) experience !
At the end of the day, consider all the bandwidth consumed to receive and bounce all this email; it must add-up to a non-negligible cost every month.
Re:I got spam (Score:2)
I'm still well within the amount of bandwidth included with my dedicated server. The server is refusing the e-mail outright so the only bandwidth is the 50 bytes or so per message that it takes the other mail server to say "I got mail for user x" and mine to say "no thank you."

There is stuff to offer nonetheless: one could browse random pron sites and give me URL's to those pages when one is meant to input their email address ;)
I already have several of those. Yours may vary, though.
