Journal I8TheWorm's Journal: Poker Night 2

So tonight is poker night. It's where we and other parents who don't get a chance to get out much play really low dollar Texas Hold 'Em and just hang out. Other times we have gourmet dinner night where everyone is required to bring a dish that meets a particular theme.

Do any of the rest of you who don't have very many nights-away-from-the-kids have plans with friends like these?

  • They all deserted us, since none of them have kids and they can't understand why my fiance and I can't just go out to a movie or something (perhaps locking our kid in the trunk of the car?). Seriously though, it can be pretty hard to be social these days. Getting childcare is hard (but not impossible) since my mom visits now and then. Wow this reply sounds way gloomier than I had intended.
    • I feel your pain... well, sort of. She has family close by, but I hate abusing that privelege, as sometimes we really need the help. I'm in the same boat though. I've lost tons of friends and simply have had to make new ones. It's ok.... more recent friends' lifestyles fit mine better anyway. Like you said, we can't just pick up at 6PM on a Thursday night with late notice and go to a sports bar or a show. We just pick our moments, and migrate toward other parents.
