Journal fireman sam's Journal: 8 days 5

8 days without coke. I feel much better, though I'm still not sleeping well. Oh well.

After about 5 days the pain in my legs and back was almost unbearable. I couldn't keep my legs still for any length of time without aching. The headaches got worse and didn't ease until 2 days ago.

I was a smoker for 16 years (started at high school) and it was far easier to give up cigarettes than it was to give up coke. The withdrawal symptoms for giving up smoking was also far less. So watch out all you coke heads.

My resting heart rate is now down to 65 bpm (from 90) my weight is now 65Kg (from 60Kg).

My sister backed off by first dropping the cafeine by switching to ginger ale - the psychological "hit" from listening to the fizz and drinking something soda-pop-ish helped get her over the initial hump, and kept her from going back when she really wanted to.

    Good luck.

  • We used to joke about it... nev er realised it was such a problem tho. Great to see your getting through it so well, sounds fscking tough.

    Matt.
  • I used to down almost a whole 2L bottle of Code Red every other day, and later switched to 2 20oz Vanilla Cokes a day (due to the University Store not carrying Code Red).

Then I abruptly switced to Glaceau VitaminWater to stop my weight gain. I really haven't noticed any withdrawals. Though I may still go for a Code Red or a Vanilla Coke every other week, it is still a huge drop in consumption.

I rarely if ever feel the effects of caffeine consumption or withdrawal.
