Journal yintercept's Journal: Object Oriented License
The thread on refining down to just three standard open source licenses did fire a few neurons. What I want is a world where people and companies who create things have a decent amount of control over the publication of their work.
The article says the OSI dream is to reduce down to only three static licenses, with an extremely powerful central committee OSI preventing people from adding any of their own touches of the presentation of their license. The creative commons license at this point is much more intriguing as it allows people to pick and choose what they want built into the license for their creation.
Rather than a static license, it would be much more interesting to have a licensing process that allows multiple choices on just how a company presents it wares to the market.
Both OSI and the monopolists controlling the market have their energies focussed on how to dictate their politics to the public. It would be so much more interesting if their was a license that was trying to find ways to enable software creators and integrators to achieve success in their endeavors.
