wiredmikey writes "Think you can bust out some silly fresh rhymes on the subjects of hacking, identity theft and computer viruses? In a somewhat untraditional partnership, Snoop Dogg and Symantec's Norton want you to show off your their lyrical skills on the subject of cybercrime and enter the 'Hack is Wack' cybercrime rap contest. If you have the skills and bust out the phattest rap, you'll receive round trip airfare for two to Los Angeles along with two days and two nights' hotel stay to meet with Snoop's management, learn more about his business. You'll also get two tickets to a Snoop Dogg concert and a new laptop pimped out with Norton Internet Security 2011."

"Pimped out" with Norton...is that like a hooker with free syphilis on the side?

Re:Prostitution (4, Funny)

No.

Its like a fat hooker you picked up while drunk with free syphilis and gonorrhea that cries after she's had sex then won't leave after you pay her twice to do so once you've sobered up.

Well, "pimping out" a car tends to involve installing flashy and expensive crap that has no functional purpose, and serves only to make the car slower and mind-numblingly ugly. So it seems appropriate.

"Don't Copy That Floppy" Part 2! It was a stupid idea then, and it hasn't improved with age.

Also, Snoop Dogg has just signed his name to the roster of formerly cool stars embarrassing themselves by remaining in the public eye long past their sell-by date. Doing this kind of lame public (dis)service crap is like wearing a neon sign saying "IRRELEVANT" in glowing foot-high letters.

Re:This sounds familiar (1)

Fnkmaster (89084) | about 4 years ago | (#33443744)

Oh come on, he was pretty fucking cool when he worked with Dr. Dre to make The Chronic, back in 1992. That was a great album.

Doggystyle, Snoop's first real studio album, came out in 1993 and it wasn't bad. It definitely had its cool moments. But yeah, I think it's been mostly downhill since then for him in terms of "cool".

You're very young, aren't you? ;)

Seriously, there was a time when he pretty much was West Coast hip-hop. That time is long gone, of course, and he's turned into self-parody now, but it did happen.

Re:This sounds familiar (1)

I don't know, I have a lot more respect for Snoop these days than I did back when he was big. He's chilled down a bit, and he's doing some good charity work. That kind of stuff is more important than being famous anyway, who cares what some random person on slashdot or a tabloid writer thinks of you? That doesn't mater.

Trepidity (597) | about 4 years ago | (#33442888)

Don't be too hard on the guy. Snoop Dogg is something of a victim of his own success here. What's he going to do to follow up cameos in a Kate Perry video, and doing publicity stunts to promote Facebook games [mashable.com] ? When the bar's set that high, you've really got to hustle for opportunities. And don't think he can just appear in some computer ad, either, because his fellow gangsta rapper Dr. Dre is already doing HP ads. No, he's really got to go all out, and find something totally square to promote for cash. Stay in school is a bit played out, and "don't do drugs" is out of the question, but this is a perfect opportunity. Hey kids, don't break into computers! Your pal Snoopy wouldn't!
