Crocodile Crashes Aircraft In Congo

samzenpus posted more than 3 years ago | from the I-only-let-him-touch-the-controls-for-a-minute dept.

Transportation 13

An anonymous reader writes "A 20-seat regional airliner crashed in Congo, after an illegally trafficked pet crocodile escaped from a bag on-board. Panicked passengers stormed the cockpit, causing the plane to lose balance and crash just a few hundred paces from the runway they were supposed to land at. Only one person survived the impact."

Someone go get Samuel Jackson and let him know that he's got a movie to be in.

Spoof - who publishes this (1)

ciaran_o_riordan (662132) | more than 3 years ago | (#33988990)

The story originated from a site called www.thespoof.com!

CNN isn't the only agency to publish this one. Here's a Belgian paper which published it, and even mentioned that they found it on www.thespoof.com:

http://www.lalibre.be/actu/international/article/618724/un-crocodile-de-quatre-metres-cache-dans-un-sac-a-la-base-d-un-accident-d-avion-au-congo.html [lalibre.be]

(I guess they can excuse themselves because there's the language barrier.)

Not quite. The Spoof has an article with fake quotes talking about the crocodile attempting to pilot the plane. It was published on October 22nd, 2010.

Other [aviation-safety.net] sources [msn.com] include more details, and appear to be legitimate. Some [eturbonews.com] predate the Spoof article.

It's not the incident that The Spoof fictionalized. It's just the details.

Now needs to be afraid of Muslims AND Alligators. It's so hard to keep up with all of these things you need to fear.

How do you know the Alligator wasn't part of Al Quaeda? The US uses trained dolphins to fight terrorism, I don't see why terrorism wouldn't use alligators.
