What Robots Do For Christmas

timothy posted more than 3 years ago | from the merry-christmas dept.

Robotics 31

An anonymous reader writes "Several robotics labs in the US and Europe have decided to make themed Christmas/New Years videos. The subject was left open but in the end it should have had a) something to do with the robotics research in each lab and b) a connection to the holidays. Here's the official announcement on the IEEE Spectrum blog. The videos, including a computer-controlled quadrocopter attempting to play jingle bells on a Yamaha keyboard, are available on the Robotics Podcast YouTube channel. (Disclaimer: I made one of the videos!)"

Aw come on - a classic line, and it fits the article's theme. Don't be a scrooge :)

I can't see the future,
If you shake me hard enough, I will fall over,
I've never quite been laid, but I am now bald and work in Silicon Valley. Or out of the attic/basement. And/or.
I dislike Apple, MS, Linux (gasp!) or something similar, with a passion, and I can prove it.
I almost wrote a Robot Chicken reference, right before I read this.
I may have just deleted a Robot Chicken reference.
I'm considering trying to work in a Robot Chicken reference wittily, as I have seen a few episodes and got bored.
I'm thinking of a witty riposte that would poke fun at the parent author.
I considered using the word 'auteur' but can't handle alt-ascii keys and was too lazy to open another tab.
I've never had a Tab, though people have offered them to me.

"Who am I?"

Why, I'm the one looking for the Doctor Who link on youtube.
I'm just not the one who knows which production code belongs to the one with Leela and has the Douglas Adams 'inception of the Krikkit computer" storyline.
But I could look it up.

Who am I?

Maybe I just missed it, but I still can't see the video of antropomorphic robots attaching one of them to a crossed truss with a nailgun. You can't get more Christmas spirit than that.

Premium warranty (repair and boot up within three days) optional.

Where to begin.

"cyborgs" probably woulda cut it, I forget.

You, on the other hand, know what "lexicon" means, and dream one day of using it in random conversation to get a hook-up (at some place that your friends dragged you to, no doubt).

Dreamers, the lot of yah.

Whaddoo I win?

Well, if that robot is Bender ... (1)

PolygamousRanchKid (1290638) | more than 3 years ago | (#34665720)

... Christmas would involve booze, cigars and theft. In no particular order. Those happen to be my plans as well ... OK, except the theft.
