why is slashdot in a different language now? what the fuck. the site is in english and all the articles are in some other language... this site is shit.

Re:at last (0)

probably some lame attempt to be funny on april1 ...stupidest holiday of all times. lying and deceiving is what today is all about. all the low life retards are out tricking people.... it is fucking stupid. i agree.

Re:at last (1)

Our lives are short and pointless when compared to the time line of the universe. Specialness is relative.

I don't celebrate Christmas, but don't care if anyone else does. It's actually relevant to about 1 billion people. April Fools day, is fucking stupid, because it's not relevant.

It's "Gay" not "Fairy".

We need to stop this bigotry. Like when the media reported on the failed lesbians who caused the flooding in New Orleans a few years ago. They called them "dykes" - please - stop it!

Re:Penguins sexuality (-1)

Also, "fairy penguins" is code for Linux users, because all Linux users are homosexual and also because the penguin is the mascot of Linux.

DarkOx (621550) | about a year and a half ago | (#43330847)

I actually enjoy Slashdot taking a day of the year out to just be silly. In past years some of the jokes have been hysterical. I enjoyed the "achievements" thing. The rot13 though is just irritating. So much fun having to paste all the summaries into my terminal so I can read them; I just love obvious repetitive tasks.

I agree, but you shouldn't have to paste the summaries. Are you getting the link "Click for a FREE PREVIEW of the decrypted version of this story!", which should show you the summary below it after clicking?

Compared to the general web population, Slashdot has a lot more people who are paranoid enough about browser security to run something like NoScript.

Jokes are defined by being funny. Something these stories are not.

I find leaving the submissions encrypted is the best way to get through yet another year of ham-handed, unfunny Slashdot April fools posts.

It's not an April's fool joke if you can tell by looking at it for 2 microseconds.

April 1st is just the day when Slashdot is utterly useless. Every Single One of the news stories is a ridiculously badly camouflaged "joke".

You do realize that getting a rise out of you,

IS the joke, right? It's funny to the people doing it, and yes does reveal the contempt that just about anyone has for most other people.

While I agree that the "stories" are lame and unfunny, there are several levels of joke here.

The only winning move is not to play.

While your reply may contain a kernel of truth, let me qualify my statement: the only person I've ever seen "joking" like this - repeating essentially the same unfunny joke over and over and over - was one with IQ of about 65. And yes, he was laughing his retarded ass off, for sure.
