Toms Hardware Reviews 65 CPU's, Past & Present

CmdrTaco posted more than 11 years ago | from the now-that-takes-some-work dept.

Hardware 404

An anonymous reader writes "Toms Hardware has an interesting review of 65 processors ranging from 100 MHz to 3066 MHz. They spent more than 300 hours benchmarking and recording the scores. Worth a quick glance, especially for the Unreal Tournament 2003 scores on the 100 MHz pentium!" CT: Yeah yeah. It's a dupe. Funny that not a single reader emailed me in almost 2 hours to tell me.

You have to understand something. I have a personal distaste for anything you say, as you have failed it miserably. You're so pathetic, it's not even funny.

Diagnosis: You were not the first poster. However, more importantly to this topic, you were not the first person who mentioned it was a dupe. Why you were modded up to 4, I shall never know, however the modders will never get laid. You will never get laid, either.

However, it might be due to the fact that everybody hates you, and you're leeching your companies time trying to get a decent post on a pathetic site, while wasting your employers precious money (yet you all claim to be libertarian); and again, you will never get laid.

Any employer worth his salt would fire slashdotters on the spot. Overclock that.

binaryDigit (557647) | more than 11 years ago | (#5325333)

A dupe with only one intervening article, this has to be a record? Next will come the side by side dupe, and finally as a crowning achievement /. editors will manage the heretofore deemed impossible, dupe within a dupe where an article will be a duplicate of itself. Beyond that of course will require time travel/visions of the future, the editors will manage to post a dupe for an article has they haven't actually posted yet, but will in the future.

I've recently put together three boxen for family and friends from my spares pile. We're talking 120-150Mhz PIs, 48-64MB SIMM RAM, 1GB drives, quad speed CD-ROMs, 56K modems and 1MB S3 cards, with Win98SE, Word 97, Outlook Express and not much else.

Now, to me and thee, that spec sucks, but to someone that just wants a box for email, browsing and word processing, it does everything that they need to do, as fast as they need to do it.

Sure, I like being able to buy 3Ghz monsters, but you need to sell a lot of systems to make back the the cost of the R&D for them. And given that we should all be aware by now of the environmental cost of computer systems, I'm going to be keeping "obsolete" hardware in service just as long as I can, and thumb my nose at the marketeers who tell me that there are compelling reasons to upgrade other than the magic smoke getting out.

I cannot guarantee 100% error correction, but I will stake my job on significantly decreased rates of grammar and spelling mistakes, and far fewer duplicate postings.
