The article describes it as "a mouse with a big head, ears, eyes and teeth that lives in a mountainous area of Cyprus.'"

Please take your hand of my head, Pinky, or I shall have to hurt you.

(Same thing we do every night, try to get the hell off this island and take over the world!)

TFA doesn't say whether it's optical or mechanical or wireless or wired.

It doesn't look like it can slide gracefully into Richard Gere's ass with a head like that, but you never know. There's only one way to find out, no?

Didn't think I would be the first.... (1)

...to wonder why a company would give such a strange name to a device. I mean, what are the odds?

Try to take over Venus, Mars and the small red spot on Jupiter.

"a mouse with a big head, ears, eyes and teeth" - I blame the influence of Japanese animation. It's only a matter of time before we have mecha-mice and a shy male mouse in a house full of female mice.

The Ponder to end ALL Ponders (3, Funny)

Anonymous Coward | more than 7 years ago | (#16415947)

"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
(Pinky) Whoof, oh, I'd have to say the odds of that are terribly slim Brain.
(Brain) True.
(Pinky) I mean, really, when have I ever been pondering what you've been pondering?
(Brain) To my knowledge, never.
(Pinky) Exactly. So, what are the chances that this time, I'm pondering what you're pondering?
(Brain) Next to nil.
(Pinky) Well, that's exactly what I'm thinking, too.
(Brain) Therefore, you *are* pondering what I'm pondering.
(Pinky) Poit, I guess I am!

Wow. That's hard to do. When I went to Europe, I didn't find any terrestrial mammals.

I believe this will be the quintessential question of our era, which will bring about a new synergy of science and religion, allowing market forces to institute ajax open source policies for government around a ruby development environment, allowing you to change your dog's into your cash cows, thereby decreasing your countries purchasing price parity against the people of Uganda's.

Yeah... I didn't actually have anything else to say besides what was in the subject. I just wanted to be cool.

From TFA:

In an interview in Nicosia, Hadjisterkotis said that for years he had been collecting the remains of mice that had been eaten by owls ...

He reminds me of Egon from Ghostbusters:

Janine Melnitz: Do you have any hobbies?

Dr. Egon Spengler: I collect spores, molds, and fungus.

Cyprus in Europe? (1)

molo (94384) | more than 7 years ago | (#16421983)

Cyprus is closer to Lebanon and Turkey then to Europe. I don't see how this qualifies as a discovery "in Europe", except that the non-Turkish controlled area joined the EU. That is a political distinction and not needed for bio research.

Non-Turkish controlled area?
That's Republic of Cyprus for you, sans "area currently inaccessible due to Turkish occupation".

You know, between the mice with giant human brains [stanford.edu] , the hyper-muscular mice [usatoday.com] (Good news! The mutation's also appeared in [newscientist.com] humans [www.cbc.ca] !), the mice who can regrow limbs [timesonline.co.uk] , and the wild carnivorous mice who howl at the moon [kuer.org] , I'm really starting to worry.

And when we see fearless [newscientist.com] regenerative howling hyper-muscular mice with giant human brains, then we know our world is lost.

Also, I wonder what Fatmouse [wikipedia.org] thinks of all this? Some mice get all the good mutations...
