Bad Jokes, Good Games At 3rd Party Press Conferences

Zonk posted more than 7 years ago | from the haven't-those-poor-journalists-been-punished-enough dept.

E3 14

The big three hardware makers aren't the only ones to offer events with uncomfortable seating this week. Activision was probably the winner of the 'most confusingly run event' award, as their welcome demonstrations of Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero III, and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground were interspersed with walk-ons by folks like Stan Lee, Slash, and Tony Hawk himself. Jamie Kennedy apparently MC'd, with lackluster results. THQ's event, meanwhile, offered several kinds of sweaty men and uninterested female models, while also showing off new products like Conan, Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon, and De Blob. Throughout, the company pledged heavy support for the Wii. Midway's event was much more to the point, with news of a downloadable Stranglehold demo coming in August, the title Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Prom announced, and a bit about Blacksite Area 51. There will be a demo for that game too.

De Blob (1)

Thansal (999464) | more than 7 years ago | (#19840653)

I will post up that De Blob is a fun little game. Not much behind it, but fun. Basicly jsut a nice little free (as it is for the computer) time killer I have been playing for the past few days.

You can currently grab the game over at fileplanet (and probably some other places for that mater).

Blacksite Demo (1)

There is already a demo out for Blacksite: Area 51 and has been for weeks...for the Xbox 360.

I played it. The demo didn't really sell me on the game.

Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. (As in professional-amateur golf tournament.)

This is been known for months. The game is gonna be horrible. But I'll still buy it, obviously. Along with a lot of pot that i will be needing to make this game enjoyable.

I hear Boston has already passed legistation to ban the game...

Maybe the publisher should consider some kind of bundle to boost sales of the game.

Jaime Kennedy Will MC ANYTHING (1)

spoonboy42 (146048) | more than 7 years ago | (#19841017)

Case in point: in 2001, I was a competitor at the International Science and Engineering Fair. One of the events for attendees featured a performance by the band Sugar Ray and was MCed by Kennedy. He told a few jokes that we'd all already heard on Comedy Central and generally didn't seem to know how to play to a crowd of nerdy teenagers (and incidentally, the opening band was far better than Sugar Ray, but that's really no surprise).

Goes to show that people don't learn from experience. Isn't that what intelligence is all about?

Chinese Democracy... (2, Funny)

GNR frontman Axl Rose was also present at the event promoting the new game "Egomanical Lead Singer," which makes extensive use of the Nintendo Wii's Nunchaku dongle. Players' gestures can be translated into many in-game moves, including 17 distinct and ridiculous poses, 4 variations of flipping the bird at the crowd and 7 different attacks with a bottle of Jack Daniels.

The game will be sold in a bundle with Duke Nukem Forever and released at the same time as the new GNR album "Chinese Democracy."

Wow this reviewer sounded jaded (1)

THQ event sounds like a lot of cool stuff, but the writer just didn't seem interested in talking about Games, like he couldn't even be bothered to pay attention, or remember the names of the games he mentioned.

On a side note, the Stuntman: Ignition demo is up on xbox live. Very cool!

Jamie Kennedy MCing with lackluster results? (1)

Hold on while I pretend to be shocked.
