Lanxon (1713660) writes "Google has launched an assault on the H.264 video standard favoured by Apple and, recently, Microsoft, by open-sourcing its competitor: the VP8 video codec. Although it won't noticeably affect most web users any time soon, it has massive ramifications on the future of web standards and technology."
