Facebook 2

Dthief (1700318) writes "The U.S. Patent And Trademark Office has sent Facebook a Notice of Allowance, which means it will grant the “Face” trademark to the popular social networking site.

Facebook now has three months to pay an issue fee before they officially own the word."

Almost as bad... (1)

Horrible of all horribles. Why that's just as bad as Shell Oil having been granted their trademark on Shell.

Which they have, by the way. Within the context of oil and oil products.

Were I to open "Face Books and Magazines" they wouldn't prevail on a trademark claim. It's outside the scope for which their trademark applies: Internet social networking businesses.

No more 'Generic Social Network' website. (1)

So the next time a crime drama wants to make up a social networking website, they won't be able to skirt the trademark holders by calling it Face Space. Now we know the real reason Fox bought Myspace.
