Why HP's WebOS on multiple platforms is good

HP 2

Antisyzygy (1495469) writes "Starting next year, HP's WebOS mobile operating system will run on pretty much every smart phone, tablet, laptop and desktop that HP ships. This is a good thing because it allows one to sync all of their devices seamlessly."

End run around Apple (1)

Kupfernigk (1190345) | more than 3 years ago | (#35450908)

Apple really isn't there in the corporate world, but the iPad is already proving quite a good Trojan. Fortunately for HP and Google, the sync between iOS and OS X is still a bit of a joke - iTunes? - in the corporate IT world. If HP can tell managements - as appears to be the case - that they have a long term replacement path for Windows desktops which will continue to support legacy applications, while at the same time having a platform which will provide IT with a single system from phones to thin clients to printers for all new development, they have a compelling story as to why to stick with HP.
They also have an opportunity to replace clunky, expensive pull printing and billing systems with controlled print release via phone or tablet, another source of corporate frustration.

There are also rumours that some of the people disposed of by CF are being quietly hired back, as the focus on joined up systems gathers momentum.

I am looking forward to WebOS. I think its going to be big since its totally geared towards business. Apple doesn't seem to be geared towards business at all.
