Capcom announces unreplayable game

DRM 3

Hatta (162192) writes "Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS will be an experience that can be completed once per customer. Using a single, unwipable save slot Capcom ensures that a second hand customer gets a second rate experience. If you buy this game used, you will be stuck with the previous owner's progress, unable to start the game fresh."

Long way from the old days of on-cart RAM (1)

Modern on-cart saves are flash-based, aren't they? As in, a long way from the old days of purely battery-backed RAM slots?

Pity shame. I recall days when I accidentally yoinked SNES carts while the power to the console was still on, and that did a pretty good job of wiping out the RAM. Oh, well. Guess the homebrew community will just find a way to wipe it outside the scope of the game itself before trading the game to their friends.

There are already ways to download and I believe upload saves on 3DS carts, if you have the hardware to do it.

Interesting (1)

So can I assume from this that Capcom believe their games are so boring that nobody would ever want to play them more than once?
