Open source project name: new low and controversy

ndogg (158021) writes | more than 3 years ago

Idle 1

ndogg writes "The open source Python projects Pantyshot and Upskirt have caused quite a stir within the Python community, and catalyzed the leaving of one of their developers (a woman who's native language is not English.) The original developer Frank Smit has renamed Pantyshot to Misaka, but that too has suspect etymology, as Violet Blue points out."

upskirt is not necessarily a woman-exploitive word (1)

You could take an upskirt photo of a male transvestite, just an example. Or take one of a Scottsman, and maybe find he wears panties under there. Is taking an upskirt photo with permission exploitive? Do only prudish women or transvestites or Scottsmen in kilts object to the practice, while others would welcome it?
