Office 15 development to go JavaScript

mikejuk (1801200) writes | about 3 years ago

Microsoft 1

mikejuk (1801200) writes "Programmers have had to put up with Microsoft dithering over Office development for a long while. The macro language VBA has been on its way out ever since .NET was introduced and yet it is still the only macro language available. Now it looks as if Microsoft plan to put JavaScript and HTML5 into Office 15. And how do we know this? By reading job ads to discover what projects Microsoft is hiring for. Clearly communication between Microsoft and its developers has reached an all time low."

Get rid of the ribbon (0)

Anonymous Coward | about 3 years ago | (#37009336)

Microsoft could go a long way towards improving Office by ditching the Ribbon.

I used Office 2007 for a few months and was going to go back to Office 2003 when I had a chance to use Office 2010. It was worse since its Outlook now uses the ribbon and MS removed full Word integration. On top of that nothing in the way of intuitiveness or usability has improved with Office 2010.
