crookedvulture writes "AMD has finally lifted the lid on reviews of its new FX-series desktop processors, which are the first based on its next-gen Bulldozer architecture. The module-based architecture is a definite departure from the norm, but it doesn't offer particularly compelling performance. When pitted against nearly 30 other CPUs in a wide range of games, applications, and benchmarks, the best FX model is only barely faster overall than the Phenom II it's supposed to replace. Intel CPUs that play in the same price range are not only quicker, but also more power-efficient. AMD is already talking about a tweaked Piledriver architecture that's slated for next year."
