Online Petitions as the future voice of the people

lordofthechia (598872) writes | more than 2 years ago

Politics 5

lordofthechia writes "The White House has created an online petition system by which any petition that reaches 25,000 signatures will receive an "official reply". Is this the way for the voice of the electorate to gain more weight in modern politics or is it the web version of a placebo button ? Will the President really consider the top pleas which include petitions to Legalize and Regulate Marijuana, Forgive Student Debt, and Abolish the TSA?"
