Asus slims Transformer tablet to target iPad 2

crookedvulture (1866146) writes "Asus has a new iPad killer in the works. The Transformer Prime is just as thin as Apple's latest tablet, but it has a higher display resolution, more onboard memory, a Micro SD slot, and an optional keyboard dock that includes not only a touchpad, but also a secondary battery that pushes the system's run time to a purported 18 hours. An Nvidia Tegra 3 system-on-chip provides the muscle under the hood, and the whole thing is wrapped in brushed aluminum. Expect to pay at least $500 for the Prime when it hits in December, plus another $150 if you want the keyboard dock, which nicely sets the Transformer apart from all the other me-too tablets on the market."
