Reading, Writing, Ruby?

Education 2

itwbennett writes "A BBC article outlines a push to make software programming a basic course of study for British schoolchildren in hopes that Britain could become a major programming center for video games and special effects. Can earlier exposure to better technology courses reverse the declining enrollment in university computer science courses and make coding cool?"

Bring back the Programming! (1)

IMHO Programming should be an essential skill to learn in schools. Not because you are necessarily going to program but because the fact that you need to learn how to methodically solve problems and resolve issues is a good thing to know. I think it will be better to actually learn something in computing courses than just to play around with some aps and push mice around aimlessly. So to me, this is a step into the right direction. (It will mean that the grades will drop drastically and people will drop out though, but that is the price to pay...)

Dude, I was like at a LAN party the other night and some dude was all like getting up about some new shit he had scored on the cover of PC Mag. We were all like, dude what is that shit? And he was like dudes, it's ruby. Oh man, this shit was messed up. It looked like some dried up crystals of blood or something. So, this dude empties the shit on the table and crushes it up into some lines. He says that we are gonna be doing ruby on railz. Damn man, that was crazy. We all took turns of the straw, breathing it in and we were like totally fucked up on that shit. If the universities are going to offer ruby on rails then there will be some fucked up programmers in the work force.

Ruby on rails is the best shit out there - get a doggy bag of it today.
