the_REAL_sam (670858) writes "For Ask Slashdot: The first time I ever saw a commercial for "windows registry cleaning" software, I laughed... but upon reflection the registry is a huge file that is constantly being edited as windows software is added/removed ... so it seems to me that the registry could have stranded references, etc... that thought changed my mind about the theory behind the idea of a registry cleaner... however I am still mistrustful and would like to know if there is any worthwhile implementation (best one), hopefully also free, reliable and trustworthy."
