BT Fibre Pulls Out Of Chelsea Over Ugly Cabinets

judgecorp (778838) writes | more than 2 years ago

Network 2

judgecorp writes "The up-market London borough of Kensington and Chelsea has lost its chance for BT fast fibre. After residents objected to the ugly fibre cabinets, and the council repeatedly refused permission to install them in historic sites, BT has said the borough will not get its fast BT Infinity product at all. The borough says it doesn't need BT, as Richard Branson's Virgin Media has got it more or less covered."

They wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for that ugly wart tacked to the top of them that makes them higher than typical privacy fences. BTs boxes are a bit large, but at least they aren't Pontiac Aztek ugly like those Australian boxes. In fact, BTs boxes look better than what we got when SBC started the UVerse service in Texas: the pre-existing wiring breakout box, a DSLAM box about 2/3 the size of the B-box, and a third 9"x12"x4 foot pedestal for power connections.

BT might get a better public reaction if they painted them blue and scribbled "Police Box" on them. Yes, I'm joking.
