Nintendo: gamers to supply hard drive for Wii U

An anonymous reader writes "A Nintendo Q&A session regarding the Wii U got translated and posted earlier today, but was soon pulled. Included were details of a hard drive inside the Wii U, but it turns out the console won't include one. CEO Satoru Iwata has stated the USB port on the machine is there to allow gamers to supply their own means of storage through an external drive. In so doing, Nintendo can cut the cost of the Wii U and free gamers to use whatever they want.

Sounds good to me, and a much better solution than Microsoft's proprietary Xbox 360 hard drive solution."
