smart vs. feature phone (1)

jbolden (176878) | about a year and a half ago | (#40979147)

I keep wondering with everyone working so hard on $250+ devices whether we are going to see a shortage of devices in the $80-250 range for the feature phones and that may be quite profitable. I don't see many good ones already in the USA and this is after only 2 years of a shift away. There are a lot of people that like the $12-35 / mo plans that get them voice, texting and very limited data along with a good texting voice phone. I know in Europe people want cheaper phones, in America cheaper plans and in the 3rd there are huge numbers of customers ready to step up to feature phones.

I'm not sure this abandonment of the mid range market is such a good idea.
